The Flexibility of the Platform Bird Feeder

The platform bird feeder is among the more popular bird feeders that one will see in pet shops in local shopping malls. There is good reason for this. While some people enjoy feeding the birds for purely altruistic reasons, there are those who enjoy the aesthetic quality the beauty of a flock of birds collecting on one’s property brings. Either way, the birds will be happy that they are being fed! If the person feeding the birds derives much joy from having the birds hanging around, then a platform bird feeder will be the preferred bird feeder.

A platform bird feeder is a flat (platform) shape and it can be hung from trees, clotheslines or a multitude of different structures. This allows for maximum flexibility as to where one can place the bird feeder. If one wishes the birds to collect in front of the house, then one can place the bird feeder there. If one wishes the birds collected in the rear of the house, then the bird feeder can be placed there. By using a platform bird feeder, the various spots that the feeder can be hung is literally limitless.

This flexibility in positioning that a platform bird feeder has allows this particular bird birder to embody an ancillary benefit: it helps attract an incredible variety of birds. Since certain birds are not willing to gravitate beyond a certain environment, placing a platform bird feeder more towards where they will congregate will allow for these types of birds to ‘hanging around” that general vicinity.

As a word of advice, if one does invest in a platform feeder it would be wise to keep it clean and in good shape. To spend money on buying such a feeder and then not taking proper care of it will eventually defeat the purpose of having bought the feeder in the first place.
