A Look At The Suet Bird
Feeder
While birds, like all other animals, need to eat
all year round, not all of the food supply that birds is reliant on
are available all year round. Insects, for example, will go into
hibernation during the cold winter months. For our more predatory
bird friends, the absence of insects and other animal life is felt
most harshly as the birds must make up the missing food source from
other areas. (And the birds do so in a begrudging manner!) This is
why many birds find the sight of a suet bird feeder to be a very
welcome image.
Suet is an animal fat based form of bird food
that predators find appealing. Instead of having to wait several
months for the return of their insect food supply, the can switch
their dining habits on the contents of a suet bird feeder. While
one would assume that birds don’t truly “miss” insects, the way
birds will swarm a suet bird feeder when the food supply of insects
is scarce would seem to indicate otherwise!
A suet bird feeder would be neither expensive to
purchase nor difficult to have installed. Many of these bird
feeders can be attached to a number of structures as seen with
suction cup based feeders that can attach directly to any window in
the house. This can provide hours of enjoyment from looking out the
window to the woodpeckers and bluebirds that are congregating in
order to get at a suet buffet.
It such a sight sounds interesting, then
investing in a suet bird feeder could be something that would be
pleasing to own. It will definitely be pleasing to the birds as
their food searching time is reduced to nil. So do yourself and the
bird world a favor and purchase a suet bird feeder as soon as
possible.
